Today is the Go Live! date for UCSF's new On-Line Financial System (OLFS). The implementation of this system within the Central Units means that an important first step in achieving a strategic campuswide administrative goal -- streamlining and automating general ledger, accounts payable and purchasing processes -- has been achieved. The stage is now set for future decentralization of on-line financial transaction processing throughout the campus.

As of today, campus departments begin recording their financial transactions using new forms and the new Chartfields. The OLFS Pilot Departments begin on-line processing of general ledger and purchasing transactions. The Accounting Office and the Purchasing Department start processing all Campus financial information using PeopleSoft's integrated General Ledger, Accounts Payable and Purchasing modules.

A brand new state-of-the-art reporting tool, WebLinks, will be available to access and report on financial information on March 16, 1998.

To support the use of these new tools, extensive and comprehensive training has been offered this year, and will continue to be offered to the campus in the months to come. To date, over 250 central and pilot users have been trained on PeopleSoft and over 1500 campus users have attended "Introduction to OLFS" and "Quick Start Training." By the end of March over 1000 campus users will have been trained on WebLinks.

In addition, administrative offices are offering new, integrated customer support to campus users. This means any department experiencing difficulties with any aspect of OLFS functionality and/or technology can call one number to get help: 502-3727.
