| Brief Report -- Following the
Underwear Trail A
couple of future physicians apparently have found a way
to help finance their medical education, and in a
different twist they had to remove some of their clothing
and be examined. Six men reportedly with UCSF ties responded to the call, and two were picked and booked for the photo shoot in Los Angeles on Saturday, according to Elissa Knight of Hayes and Van Horn Casting in San Francisco. Only two from the Bay Area were selected by the Jockey people, who reviewed Polaroid photos and videos of the guys in their underwear. The lucky two are medical students attending UC Berkeley, said Knight, who would not release the names of the winners or runners-up. Although Daybreak could not confirm that they were medical students, Berkeley and UCSF do have a joint medical program in which students spend the first three years on the Berkeley campus, where they take preclinical courses and complete a masters program in health and medical sciences. The students faces, and a bit more, will probably show up in the ad -- scheduled to appear in such journals as Rolling Stone, GQ and Vanity Fair -- before they do on the Parnassus campus, where students from the joint program finish two years of clinical training. The agencys favorite -- a UCSF first-ear resident who was a really good sport -- did not make the cut, said Knight. Except for one UCSF student who visited its office, the busy schedules of physicians forced the agency to make its own housecalls. Knight admitted that they had to borrow campus locations to get their photos. The first year resident, for example, was photographed in his boxers in a restroom.
