party given in her honor last week at the Alzheimer's Day
Center, a program of the UCSF-affiliated Goldman

specialist at the Alzheimer's Day Center. |
Gray spent
her birthday, Nov. 10, dancing to a one-man orchestra and
lunching with friends at the center. The event was marked
with a special proclamation signed by Mayor Willie Brown
declaring "Beaulah Gray Day" in San Francisco.
Gray was born and raised
in Chickasaw, La., and moved to San Francisco with her
husband in 1946. She is a resident of the Oceanview
neighborhood and is a life member of the New Providence
Baptist Church.
Still a lively dancer
after all these years, Gray attends the Alzheimer's Day
Center four times a week.
Devoted to persons with
memory loss, the Alzheimer's Day Center is one of many
programs for the elderly offered by the Goldman Institute
on Aging. Structured and interactive activities help
clients avert placement in a nursing home by maximizing
mental and physical abilities. Operating six days a week,
the program provides noon meals and transportation for
clients. The center also offers support group and respite
care for caregivers. For more information, call 750-5330.
