The week's events -- sponsored by the campus' Asian Pacific American Systemwide Alliance, Empact and other UCSF groups -- are as follows:

Tuesday, May 13. Artist Mayumi Oda will discuss her work as a painter and printmaker and its connection to her role as founder of Plutonium Free Future, 12:10 to 1 p.m., in Toland Hall. Co-sponsored by the Women's Resource Center.

Wednesday, May 14. San Francisco Supervisor Michael Yaki will deliver a brown bag talk, "The Making of a Legislator," 12:10 to 1 p.m., Room N 225. Co-sponsored by Public Services Programs.

Thursday, May 15. Filipino Cultural Festival featuring the Bayanihan Dance Troupe from San Jose State University, food and other entertainment, noon to 2 p.m., Millberry Union gym. Sponsored by the United Filipino Employees Association.

Sunday, May 18. The renowned urban jazz band Hirsohima is "unplugged" in an exclusive performance to commemorate the tenth anniversary of the UCSF Asian Pacific American celebration, 7 p.m., Herbst Theater, 401 Van Ness Avenue. $15 UCSF students, $20 UCSF staff and friends. Tickets available at the MU Central Desk and at all Empact ticket locations. No tickets will be sold at the door.

The Asian Pacific American Systemwide Alliance (APASA) was founded in 1981 by staff and students who wanted to form an Asian Pacific American network for the UC system. At this campus, where nearly one-third of students and more than one-fourth of staff are Asian, members have been active with APASA since 1988. Among the group's goals are promoting affirmative action and the rich and diverse cutural heritage of Asian Pacific people, and strengthening professional and social relationships within the community.
