The Bay Area Breast Cancer Translation Research Program focuses on the
development of new therapeutic approaches to breast cancer treatment.

The Early Detection Program works to develop tailored cancer intervention
strategies for multi-ethnic populations. The site features a description

This site provides up to date information about the potential benefits

This Cardiovascular Research Institute site offers information about the
history of the program, the faculty members involved, training programs,

Health and Aging
UCSF Memory & Aging Center
Directed by Bruce Miller, MD, treats 700 patients each year for Alzheimer’s disease, frontotemporal dementia (Pick’s disease), Huntington’s Disease, Mild Cognitive Impairment (MCI), Vascular Dementia, Progressive Supranuclear Palsy, ALS and Corticobasal Degeneration. UCSF is one of 14 institutions in the country designated and funded by the federal government as a center of excellence for Alzheimer’s disease research. Leading the way toward identifying the specific genetics, etiology and clinical features of various forms of dementia, the Center is known for intensive, early diagnosis of a range of disorders. Initial consults are so comprehensive they make take up to five hours; clinical teams of physicians, pharmacists, neuropsychiatrists, nurses, genetic counselors and others collaborate on patient care teams.

Only 1 of 6 in the country, the UCSF CADC provides research resources
focusing on disease prevention, health promotion and disability for the
elderly to those of African-American and Latino decent.

for Gender Equity
The Center for Gender Equity supports the UCSF's mission of teaching,
research, and public service through programs and policy initiatives designed
to achieve an inclusive and equitable campus community for heterosexual
women, lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender people. By providing advocacy,
education, and support services to UCSF and the community at large with
respect to issues of gender, race, class, sexuality, physical ability,
relationship violence, and sexual violence, the Center will strive to
assist all to attain social, economic, and political equity.

CHIPS consists of a multidisciplinary research team which aims to improve
health outcomes by conducting clinical research that is responsive to

Reproductive Health
Center
for Reproductive Health Policy and Research
The Center for Reproductive Health Research & Policy addresses the
health, social, and economic consequences of sexual activity by integrating
efforts in contraception and family planning with work in sexually transmitted
infections (STIs) and HIV/AIDS. Projects and research range from primary
prevention to treatment interventions and include epidemiologic and behavioral
approaches, clinical and biomedical research, and public health and policy
development.

for Reproductive Sciences
The Center for Reproductive Sciences (CRS) is an Organized Research Unit
of the University of California, founded in 1977 and directed by Robert
N. Taylor, M.D., Ph.D. The CRS is composed of 16 basic scientists representing
diverse fields of biology who have joined forces with 8 physician-scientists
to coordinate basic and translational research in reproductive physiology
and pathophysiology.
