About Us Kim-Shree Maufas Kim-Shree Maufas joined the UCSF National Center of Excellence in Women's Health as their new Program Director in November 2007, after working for many years as a community education activist, targeting areas of gender inequity and social justice for youth and people of color. She is a former CEDAW Policy Analyst for the City and County of San Francisco’s Department on the Status of Women. “CEDAW” is the United Nation’s Convention to Eliminate all forms of Discrimination Against Women, and in 1998, San Francisco was the first municipality in the U.S. to adopt as a city ordinance. While at the Department, Kim-Shree focused on critical life issues surrounding girls, young women, and health disparities for women of color in San Francisco. Kim-Shree will help CoE develop and guide programs that support their year-round leadership development opportunities for girls and young women, such as the very successful “Young Women's Health Conference,” in the San Francisco Bay Area. She will work to augment our current Internship Program, the Community/Non-Governmental Partnerships Program, as well as introduce the new Pediatrics in the Community Program. Kim-Shree received her B.A. in Human Communication from the University of San Francisco, an M.B.A., with an emphasis in Marketing, from the University of Phoenix and is on the board member of the Marin Institute, the national alcohol industry watchdog. Additionally, Ms. Maufas is the Vice President of the San Francisco Board of Education (2008), having been elected city-wide in November of 2006 to a four-year term. In her spare time, Ms. Maufas, a certified USA Track and Field coach, volunteers with the Northern California Chapter of the International Special Olympics Association.
