UCSF partner choirs at 12 senior centers throughout San Francisco in the “Community of Voices” research study have an opportunity to receive additional funding to sustain these choirs after the study closes.
A UC San Francisco medical student thought of an idea that is now a bill, and could one day become law in California. Tom Gaither, a first year student at the UCSF School of Medicine, suggests putting the following warning label on sugary beverage containers that have 75 or more calories per 12 ounces: “STATE OF CALIFORNIA SAFETY WARNING: Drinking beverages with added sugar(s) contributes to obesity, diabetes and tooth decay.”
Mary Lou Breslin, a nationally recognized expert on disability advocacy, will be the featured speaker at a presentation about health disparities among patients with disabilities at 12 noon, on January 24, in Cole Hall. She will also talk about barriers to care, as well as highlight some models that are working well.
