New concerns about radiation exposure during CT scans garnered extensive news coverage December 14-16 in both national and regional outlets, leading to numerous interviews with two UCSF professors. The concerns were based on a new study in the Archives of Internal Medicine by Rebecca Smith-Bindman, MD, UCSF professor of Radiology, Epidemiology & Biostatistics, and Obstetrics, Gynecology and Reproductive Medicine.
The J. David Gladstone Institutes today announced that senior investigator Shinya Yamanaka, MD, PhD, also of Kyoto University and a UCSF professor of anatomy, has been awarded the prestigious Shaw Prize for his contributions in reprogramming adult skin cells to pluripotent, embryonic-like stem cells.
