UCSF's original Parnassus campus was built in 1898 thanks to a donation of 107-acres from former Mayor Adolph Sutro. Saunders Court occupies the former footprint of the original College of Medicine building, the last of the original structures to be torn down. Arrayed around it now are the School of Nursing, the Clinical Sciences and Medical Sciences Buildings, and Health Sciences West, one of two biomedical research towers. The southwestern corner of Saunders Court is the portal to some of the newer Parnassus Heights buildings, including the School of Dentistry and the Koret Vision Research Laboratory.
