Saunders Court, located at the heart of UCSF's Parnassus campus, is a popular oasis and meeting place in an otherwise urban university landscape. The green space occupies the footprint of the old School of Medicine building, left inset, built in 1898 (and torn down in 1967) when the campus relocated from various sites in downtown San Francisco. It is named for former chancellor, John B. de C.M. Saunders.
