The north-facing Lange Reading Room at UCSF's Kalmanowitz Library blends a contemplative atmosphere with expansive views of downtown San Francisco, Golden Gate Park and the Marin Headlands. The library is home to more than 800,000 volumes and, in a typical year, is visited nearly 550,000 times. It also was an early leader in bringing journals online.
